I visited Occupy Boston on Wednesday and I encourage everyone to learn about this and similar groups, springing from Occupy Wall Street in New York and demonstrating in cities across the country. These groups are speaking out against big money interests, a financial industry that goes unchecked no matter the damage they cause to our economy, and the ever growing difficulties facing the middle class, our elderly and our young to ensure their own economic security. The Occupy groups are forcing a much needed conversation about how we fix the abuses that caused the economic meltdown and how we provide a fair playing ground for ALL our citizens - not just the rich and powerful - to realize the American Dream. I was extremely impressed and encouraged by the organizers and other activists’ I spoke with. Their passion and thoughtful approach is a true example of democracy at work. Their voices need to be heard.
